As a former CEO with 20 years’ experience working and travelling the world with multinationals, Tim Maclachlan understands the challenges of business leadership have to be met with the right skills and the right attitude.
With over 15,000 hours of experience being one-to-one with his Vistage group, Tim’s well known for his supportive, fun and effective style.
After graduating from Melbourne University, Tim began his career in the consumer finance industry with a subsidiary of the U.S.-based Household International group. He then moved into marketing, serving in several marketing and management roles. Subsequently, Tim was appointed founding CEO of EMTEC Magnetics Australia Pty Ltd marketing a diverse array of recording media products to a broad base of consumer, industrial, business, media and I.T. markets.
After 20 years working and travelling with multinationals, he founded his own management consultancy, EQIUM, assisting small and medium sized enterprises to develop their strategy, marketing and human capital.
Throughout his career as a business leader, Tim has utilised his experience in marketing and strategic outsourcing to achieve rapid growth and market leadership. His other career highlights include:
- Appointed Senior Executive for the business unit at Consumer Products Division of BASF Australia Ltd– the youngest ever appointed to this level.
- Tim established EMTEC as a start-up subsidiary and developed the new brand in the recording media industry
- Led the EMTEC start-up subsidiary to be the most profitable subsidiary in the global group
